Golf+ is the provider of wish fulfillment in VR headsets for a large number of golfers that are “just looking to find ways to play more golf.”
The app launched in 2020 exclusively on the Quest platform and, over the last six years, has built up to more than 50 paid downloadable courses and a subscription program to access all of them. This year, Golf+ expands to PC VR and the Steam Frame headset.
“You don’t have to be the first to be the best,” Golf+ CEO Ryan Engle said in a recorded call for Good Virtual Reality’s podcast. “Up until this year, we’ve always decided we would rather prioritize speed and adding features and adding courses and refining our existing software versus expanding to other platforms. When you expand there’s just a cost to every platform that you add. It takes QA time…you’re going to run into different issues on different devices.”
The hour-long conversation includes an overview of how Engle’s team maintains communication with players, analyzes its data, built a subscription program and works to retain players over the long term.
This podcast is published first for paid subscribers of Good Virtual Reality.
