Avi Bar-Zeev From Multiplayer VR In 1992 To Apple Vision Pro

Podcast discussion on the language of mixing worlds, privacy, and the future of spatial computing with a professional who worked on projects that impacted Disney, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple.

Avi Bar-Zeev worked on a lot of mixed reality over 35 years with projects that impacted Disney, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Apple.

For just over an hour in a recent podcast recording session, Bar-Zeev first walks through his storied work history and then weaves around the language of mixing realities as well as the privacy policies that keep him from interacting with companies like Meta.

"I don't use any Meta products to this date, even though I'd like to,” he said during our talk. “The hardware is relatively nice and cheap, and I'd love to play with it. I might even love to develop for it, because I have all sorts of applications in mind, but I won't touch it because of their privacy policy."

He’s got some fascinating insights into ideas like “consensual reality” and the obvious flows available for companies to actually implement ideas like “name tags” or for age-gating content in headsets.
